2021 Remodel
Marvin Anderson Architects was commissioned to amend the south portion of the Frederick residence. The approach deserved a grand, coherent arrival that complemented the original house. Relying on the centerlines of the original entrance hall and symmetry, the team changed the approach entirely.
1968 Remodel
The house was deemed “too big” by past owners, who issued the demolition of the south end of the residence. The result was the loss of most of its formal rooms. The cut, which didn’t include the basement, created an awkward scar on the front. The building and the gardens have been severed.
1932 Built
The Fredericks hired Hobart to design a French chateau that aligned with Olmsted’s master plan for their estate. The estate consisted of many gardens, an orchard, reflecting ponds, allies, and much more, all converging on the main residence.
